Short Stirrup Classes

Both classes are open to any Youth rider who is age 10 or under on January 1 of the current year.  There will be no penalty for holding the saddle with either hand.  The rider may ride with standard reins, or with any type of closed reins and may ride with one or two hands on the reins at any time during the class.

Short Stirrup (walk/trot) - this class is designed for the young rider who is not ready to lope yet, but is ready to ride through a modified pattern at the job, guiding the horse by themselves.  This class will use a WPRHA Short Stirrup pattern, which can be found here.

Short Stirrup - this class will follow all NRHA rules and patterns for short stirrup, where young riders are expected to guide their horses, at the lope, through the pattern chosen.

Unless otherwise stated, NRHA rules apply.
